Do a dual boot with windows xp and Windows Vista, cos Vista is almost 100 %
surely the problem, imho. It has very strict hardware and security
requirements. The midi unit you use could be the problem (thus vista) if it
is a usb midi hub, forget it, it just wont work until sp1 is out or a good
update of your hardware supplier. Try to connect it with a game-port to midi
extension cable on any old-fashioned sound card like a SB live or cheaper.
You will get a very reliable midi connection through this gameport to midi
cable. Better than any usb midi (ahum, well a lot any how). Midi is already
really 80s technology and as a protocol seems to be implemented more sturdy
through cheap soundcard chips than through a lot of the usb hubs.
Buy me a beer if this solved it ;-).gotta get to the Netherlands tho
