In your opinion, is it the wrong slider or is it the capacitor as another person said? He said to replace the 100uF capacitor, because if its bad, then wont work as it acts as a ground for the slider.-Brian

wrong sliderwhat one did you fit----- Original Message -----From: Brian HintzeSent: Saturday, April 05, 2014 12:09 AMSubject: [kawaisynths] K4 Volume Slider...help pleaseHello all,
I recently purchased a K4. Good condition, except the volume slider
does nothing...all sounds seem at maximum volume.
I then replaced the slider with a new one from Syntaur...only the
slider, as they are out of the complete volume slider assembly.
The new slider still does not affect the volume, but......when all the
way down, sound from both left and right, but sounds kind of flat or
monophonic.
When you slide up the volume slider, then the sound starts to separate
and more stereo effect....weird, yes?
Any suggestions? Some where, something is messed up.
I can always edit the volume from within each sound, then save the
patch, but it's not the same...and would like the volume slider to work
as should.
ANY help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Brian

the slider does matter
as well as the wrong type will work
wrong
what type was the slider was it a new one as if its
a desoldered part it might also be faulty
as it sounds to me like the same problem i had with
a k2000 and korg trinity
with badly worn sliders
it would be stereo on the half way mark but when at
full volume it would only come out of the left channel
on the trinity if i pluged a cable in either left
or right channel i would get audio but if i plug cables in both i would only get
audio in one channel
both were bad sliders on changing for the correct
type which was 2x10ka audio taper types they were ok
but some use the linear types for the audio
level
as it was full volume before but no adjustment and
now its not working correctly
;
i would say its a bad slider or wrong
type
if you live in uk there is a parts seller on ebay
that has the k4 slider board
there supposed to be 2x10kb types in the k4 and the
c1 100uf cap is the link to ground so if it has failed then you would lose
ground to the fader
just check the slider types and check for cold
solder joints
