K5 for sale (?)

K5 for sale (?)

2007-04-19 by adam_nw6

Hi all..
I've never posted here before but often check in. I know this is a
pretty open question, but would you sell your K5?

The reason I ask is I have a kind of love-hate relationship with mine
and was curious to know other owners feelings. If you were to sell it,
what would be a fair price? There's not much to compare with at the
moment, except the one currently on ebay and another on craigslist.

What do you think?

I joined this group because my father has one for sale. He paid around $1000 for it in when it came out 20? years ago. I think they are now worth $100. But his has never been used and would be great for replacement parts.
What do the rest of you think?

Yes, they're worth about $150-200. If your father's K5 has never been
used, a worn out one would be a good unit to replace parts in that synth.

I can't say if I would sell mine or not since I didn't have the time to
really play with it, get into it, which is the complicated part of that
synth. However, waveform analysing/generating software for the K5
exists, and simplifies things a lot.

Wow, never been used? It is probably worth $300 if you sell it to
someone here on the list, assuming it is working & the display lights
up (glows). Otherwise they are worth about $150 on today's market.

The K5 is a truly unique machine that is of most interest to people
who like to experiment and make their own sounds. People who just
want to play music in a band with standard "bread and butter" sounds
like piano, strings and organ will find it is not their cup of tea,
which probably is why your father didn't use it for 20 years. I would
offer you $300 if I could afford it right now. I definitely can offer
you $150 if you are willing to sell it for that price.

Hi, Adam.

HE he he, I really know what are you talking about, my friend. I think
that "love-hate" is the normal feeling in the "human side" ... but
believe me, man, in the "machine side" the feeling is always love.
What I mean? If you dedicate some time to your k5 you'll see it
returns satisfaction (and more) to you.

I tried to sell mine two times in the past, but now, I tell you, bro,
I WON'T SELL IT. I know is a hard-programming machine, but try using
some editor (as Dr T's over Steem emulator) and you will see that the
k5 is a unique machine, powerful, vintage, and also beatiful to the
eyes! (at least there's nothing even similar to the k5M ...).

I hope you will be aggree with me in the future.

Best regards, take it easy and make many questions here, it's the best
learning procedure, here you have people like Antoine that
are "Monsters" (in my country we call that to guys with huge knowledge
about something)

Alvaro .

Howdy,

i just bought one for $125. It hasn't arrived yet but I need to get
the manual and midi implementation specs to see if I can rig up a
midi controller for easier programming. STILL trying to find a manual
for my Seiko DS-250. It would be nice to know how to operate the
thing.
