Is there a moderator/owner still watching over the group?

2015-12-06 by narfman96@...

Is there a moderator/owner still watching over the group? Someone recently contacted me trying to join the group. They were unable to join.

On another note I haven't looked on FB but has anyone seen anything there for the K5? I am currently an administrator for the K4 group on FB.

Thanks, Fran

Can I ask you an unrelated question? Would you be able to provide me with a picture of the wire to board connector for the el part of the k5 display or would you know where I could find one ? Thanks!

We're two actually. Given I'm a co-moderator on three groups, sometimes some pending memberships slip through mixed with the others.

Try this site for backlight info and many other good tips for the K5... There may be some pics here in the group that show it also. I attached a pic from Syntaur showing the connector but I'm not sure the group allows attachments. Keyboards, Parts, and Accessories from Syntaur is a good resource for parts or pics of any synth....

Moderator, Thank you for the quick reply!!! I'm glad the group has 3 moderators. I take care of quite a few groups even though the popularity has dropped off here on Yahoo. Hate to see a good thing go to waste.

For what it's worth I'm glad that Yahoo groups, forums, even mailing lists are still around. Please don't take it to Facebook unless necessary. Not everyone has an account or wants to use it for more than keeping an online address book. Everyone with a FB account has an email address tho.

For just a couple of quid more you can replace the whole display with an LED backlit one. Much brighter and should last a very long time.

I replaced mine recently with this one-

240x64 Dots GLCD Graphic Module LCD Display,w/T6963 Controller,LED Backlight

It's a pin for pin replacement, but you have to solder on a new header for the ribbon cable, and also tie the font selection to + 5 volts with a 10k resistor. Some self adhesive foam sponge rubber is also worth getting to go around the surround like the original display. I also desoldered and removed the inverter block and jumpered across the 5 volt supply so I could use the original connection plug for the LED backlight.

Which pin is the font selection on the K5 ?
Do you have your old display still ?
I was looking for the el plug for the K5 so I could provide people with plug and play backlights. Other synths which have the same size backlight dont all have the same connectors. So in order to make the backlights require no soldering, I have to track down the appropriate plug for each el panel.
We have a plug and play led upgrade w/ribbon cable for other synths with the same t6963c controller language as the k5 and it uses the ribbon cable to power the lcd as opposed to having to remove the transformer
It is most likely compatable with the k5
