Hello to all:
Because I thought it could maybe be beneficial to anyone
trying to get goin with Overtone, I wanted to report how I finally got
it to work again.
1. System: An "old" Dell Dimension XPS P166s with ISA slots and only
32 Meg of RAM running Windows 98.
2. An "old" Sound Quest PC MIDICARD version 2 set to IRQ 7 at address
300.
Notes: (a)The same system with a USB Midi Interface whlile using
another K5 editor (e.g. Terzoid Noize) caused problems in
the handshake with K5 and would never complete the upload
and/or the download hence yet worked with another ISA MIDI
interface (e.g. MIDIMAN 1x1). My conclusion was the enhanced
speed via the USB port was too fast for the K5 and caused
buffer problems.
(b) Because Overtone is a DOS based program whatever interface
you decide to use will have to have the appropriate DOS drivers.
(c) Although I got my MIDI card to work with IRQ 7 at address
300, you will have to set your card to whatever IRQ and
address are free and available in your specific system.
Special Thanks again to both Antoine and to Joel.
Yours;
