No, I dont think so. The idea of a "compatibility" database is to help
people choose hardware that DOES work. I look at it as a "system
requirements" list of sorts, like you see before purchasing software.

If you have a SD setup that does not work, then its better to use the
mailing list for asking questions (and posting solutions) about what
it is that is not functioning. Finding a possible solution to your
problem (which is what you want with a non-working system) is easier
this way since group messages are searchable.

If you really feel strongly about posting a non-compatible
configuration, then please start a new and separate database dedicated
to non-working configurations.

Ok, I understand your point. Besides: the uncompatibility list would
be much longer than the compatibility list :-)
So we should stick to a compatible list only, that's already great !

The only side-remark I have with this compatibility list is that the
same setup of user X sometimes does not work with user Y.
Example:
I have two EII+ samplers and 5 macs. The only configuration which
really is reliable is the Mac Classic + EII.
The powerbook 180c sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't.
I also have a PB 520c and 5300 of which was also being said that they
were compatible with EII.
Indeed, some users have no problems whatsoever with those, while
others (like me) can't get them into communication with the EII (no
matter if I put the EII in Mac mode manually and/or enable/disable
AppleTalk)
Nevertheless I'm pretty sure these Powerbooks will find their way
into our compatibility database...
What I want to say is: this database is great and for sure it will
help al lot of people. But everyone should be aware that even the
setups on the list do NOT guarantee 100% compatibility. Except for
the Mac Classic that is :-)

Conclusion: besides the Mac Classic I have the impression that
a "compatible Mac/EII" setup is a kind of statistical issue really,
not really a black and white fact.
Anyway: it's a great initiative and I've added my setups to the
database.

PS: how do I change my records in the database ? I forgot to mention
that AppleTalk must be ON on the powerbook 180c...

This is actually a big plus to having the list. If you see your Mac on
the working list, you *know* that someone has SD working. This means
you can message the group, find out who has the same setup, and
compare notes to help solve your problems. Unless there is something
wrong with your specific hardware (and lets not forget these classic
Macs are getting old now too), we *should* be able to get things
working when someone else has the same machine listed.

Your 180c is similar to my 165c. There is a certain amount of
rebooting and manual E-II mode switching required with my setup, but I
can always get it to work. If I can help in some way, email me.

I agree with you though. Of the four Macs Ive tried, each deals with
SD in their own way. Id really like to know if we are all running the
last available version of "SD for E-II" (for the sake of having any
bug fixes that were incorporated). If anyone has a later or even a
different version of SD than what is available in the group file
section, please upload it to the group.

I think I fixed that now, go see if you can edit.

PPC Performa 5200 works!

But i've many "frozen screens" during E2->mac waveform operations.

Transfering banks works really fine!

I'm a mac-newbie, how can i handle "frozen screens" without using the
power-switch? Is there (on mac) a similar combination to
PCs "ALT+STR+DEL"?
