I'm trying to quantize my sequences using Auto Correct on my EII. I'm listening to the metronome via the metronome output connected to a synth amp in my studio. I go to Setup > Auto Correct and then choose to quantize by 1/16 or 1/8 and then press ENTER. (I generally set my metronome at 1/4.) However, my sequences do not seem perfectly timed to the metronome. The Auto Correct function just seems to slightly make the notes closer to the beats, but not on them. Any ideas?

Interesting...am I not supposed to use the sequencer haha?Man, I just got this thing fixed and it froze on me after about 40 minutes of use. Did that happen normally to you?

I've used it's sequencer a bunch of times, and got it to quantize fine. Not sure if it's an OS thing or something else.I played with it's sequencer, but never really liked it that much.. I don't think your missing out on much.

Re: [emulatorII-list] Emulator II Sequencer Question
2012-08-11 by James Ulibarri
the reason why it's unusable basically is because if you're clocking the sequencer say from an SP1200 or 12, and you use the clock out, the EII has that lag time to access the floppy disk to get it's next set of instructions. That lag time destroys everything. Every time it makes a move you know it has to access the disk. One thing I tried and I posted it on the other forum (weak) was to get the EII to read midi files. I would load up a midi file in Ableton and pump it through the EII's input and it would actually record it. So I would then hit play and the midi file was there. That was fun. I think the sequencer is good for scratch pad sequencer for melodies and pads, and that's about it. And using the EII in Supermode blows too if you're trying to use a serious hardware or soft sequencer. I think most people just use it for real time playing these days and that's it.

The way around the laggy start was to play it once, with the lag.. Stop the master clock and restart.. The second time it doesn't need to access the disk, and will start on the money.

here we go.... (sigh)
Really?! Nobody uses the sequencer anymore?
No. And how many years ago was that? Going on 30. That is far from today. Which is what I was eluding to. Today no one uses that sequencer. I do respect you for being OG and trying to use it though, now.
Wow, Depeche Mode made their career off of that sequencer. (They weren't using an external sequencer, were they?)
Oh ok. You got me. (not!) They're running the whole set off an EII sequencer?? Come on, bud.
You've been watching that Alan Wilder video too much where he is playing Christmas Island and the backing tracks are playing and he's playing over the top. That's a pretty simple track and that is far from their whole career. They definately were not making records with the EII's sequencer I can tell you that. I am sure they had Atari ST's or even earlier computers. Can someone identify this computer?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkXItiP_bz4
Scrub the video to 1:08
As crude as that midi setup was, I don9;t see anyone pecking away at the EII's sequencer or any other vintage video I have seen accept for the one Alan is in for that EII video.
I hear you on making music with just the EII's sequencer. Go back in the archives and on the EIII board under my many pseudo names and you can see I was fascinated with the sequencer in the EII and EIII for a while. But I didn't get jack shit for responses regarding it. So don't think I have you on blast because you're using. I am a huge fan of step sequencers and simple sequencers. But I know it's tough to pull off including the EII. And how do you know that Alan didn't dump into EII like I was talking about earlier from a computer? The EII will record incoming midi as I said. No one probably knows that accept for him how he did some of those trax. And I am sure he doesn't remember or care now.
So I asked all these EII sequencer questions a while ago. So don't think I don't care or respect you for wanting to work with the EII sequencer. I dig it. But hardly anyone will mess with it. (currently in 2012)

yOU Can try to sync your sp1200 and EII by midi or clock in EII. I always use the eII sequencer with the 8 separatly outputs (real time cue). The sequencer is great to record arpeggiator and pitch bend strings. Very easy to use cause you can copy sequence and punch in/OUT or erase entire TRACKS. The EII had to been sync with your drum machine !Re: [emulatorII-list] Emulator II Sequencer Question

here we go.... (sigh)
Really?! Nobody uses the sequencer anymore?
No. And how many years ago was that? Going on 30. That is far from today. Which is what I was eluding to. Today no one uses that sequencer.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do classic rock coversand I like to use the Emulator II sequencer at the beginning of Pink Floyd's "Money", with all those cash register and change jangling sounds happening in tempo. So far, left and right alternating has to do.Haven't tried it yet, but I would like to hook up6 different amps & speakers spread out around the venue, each connected to a separate Emulator IIoutput. Can't do that with any of my other keys. Also have a bunch of Godzilla roars for when we do Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla". It seems the only convenientway for me to do those is from the sequencer. It alsomakes a great "third hand" when I occasionally get to doing too many things at once.

It is indeed a BBC Micro.. coupled with the UMI 4M sequencing system. they used this for many years(until Violator I believe).Alan didn't use the MC50.. and Never Live.. the Units you are thinking about were the Roland DM80 recording system which was an early tapeless HD recording system. They were planning to use these for the SOFAD tour to replace their ageing Tascam 38s, but after it crashed spectacularly and lost all the Tour Backing, DM sued Roland (successfully) and the DM80 was quickly discontinued. The Backing Tapes had to be quickly reproduced a couple of weeks before the tour starting..The Christmas Island sequence was put together by Alan in the back of the tour bus which is why it was sequenced with the EII.. He also went on to do the first Recoil records in this wayFrom: clem fallon

Hi SimonAhh! Thanks for the info. I knew I'd hear something along them lines before. I'd say there was plenty of teeth gnashing when the DM80 went down.ClemOn 9 Sep 2012, at 14:49, Simon Forsyth wrote:It is indeed a BBC Micro.. coupled with the UMI 4M sequencing system. they used this for many years(until Violator I believe).Alan didn't use the MC50.. and Never Live.. the Units you are thinking about were the Roland DM80 recording system which was an early tapeless HD recording system.
