Problems after removing HD/New Eproms needed

Problems after removing HD/New Eproms needed

2011-12-19 by Jason

Hi all, I removed the existing HD from my machine. I removed all of the relevant hardware and put the Zilog chip in the socket where the daughterboard was. Now the floppy will not boot the machine.
It turns over three times, shows the SW version and then quits.
I am using a straight cable. Nothing else except the factory floppy drive is on it.
I am doing this downgrade to install the HxC in place of the HD.
I would like to have it and the floppy on the same buss.
I think I am going to need new scanner and main roms.

Does anyone have the capability to hook me up with them?
Even the type of eeproms they are, the firmware files and the type of programmer to be used would be fantastic to know as well.

I have tried messing around with the jumpers on the floppy but nothing has changed.
I have not been successful in getting the HxC on line either. So for now I just want to get the machine booting from floppy.
One thing at a time!

Thanks in advance, Jay

it does sound like a termination problem. old computer systems were so sensitive to that stuff.
what's the HxC?

i'm not super savy with Eii innards..

do you have the service manual?

http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Manuals/ManualsE123/manualse123.html

there's an upgrade manual as well.

Jason, I'm in the process of doing the exact same thing.

I've not gotten my machine working yet (it never did work, I think the drives were bad when I got it) -- but the first step in making progress after the SCSI Board and HD removal was to use the newest Main and Scanner EPROMs.

Before I swapped out the ROMs my machine wouldn't even attempt to boot.

I had ealnet.com generate EPROMs for me very inexpensively. While I was at it I had them burn me a Debug ROM also. (The Debug has been very helpful in working towards getting my machine running.)

Thanks for the reply. I really don't think it can be anything else but the eproms. If I put it all back together, it boots right up.
I'm going to buy an eprom programmer and give it a shot.
