Hello, is there a way to make this diagnostic disc?  (Eg download)

I would not mind buying these from someone either.

I had to replace the pitch and mod wheels and i need to get them recalibrated. As I've learnt, it is possible with this disc.

If anyone of this board owns them, please post a message. Then we can find out how to make a digital copy of them, in order to make these disks available for anyone who is using e.g. an SD or USB HxC on their Emulator-II...

Hello again Thomas.... Ebay and some select US vintage computer sellers are really the only way to go for DS DD floppy disks in my experience. As mentioned previously, 48 TPI have always worked for me and I have about 20 boxes of ten. If you're desparate I can spare a few. I also have one box of ten 96 TPI DS DD disks.
 
Any EII soundbank performance disk will have the OS on for booting from floppy but trust you actually want to boot from the HD (using the files from the other member) if yours still works. Any member's EII with dual floppies can make copies of these.

my Emulator II+HD came around 2 weeks ago with just two disks.

One is working and one is defect. At the moment I am a bit lost....

Due to the fact that I am a total�Emulator-newbee and�I do not now yet

to copy those diganostic discs for memory check, etc.

I think it would be very helpful some day to have such diagnostic tool

and a proper disk with the latest OS....

If you are able to make copies of the three disks I could send you my

adress and a certain amount via Paypal for your efforts, the disks and packing.

Allright, these disks are quite interesting already !

I have digital copies of the non HD 2.1, 2.3, 3.0 and 3.1 OS already downloadable on my website (for use in the HxC), but was missing the HD versions like 2.6HD and 3.1HD.
And the memory test disk is even more interesting !
Unfortunately for Adam we're still missing the calibration disk, but it may pop up soon too :-)


Now the next interesting question is indeed how to copy them.

1/ For making a "digital" copy (for using them later in the HxC), i.e. making a 560K disk image file of these disks, there's only one way: the "physical" disk must be read on a Windows PC using the special KryoFlux floppy controller.
Not everyone has this device, I'm lucky to have one :-)
So to make this kind of copies I would need the actual disks (or a copy of them - see 2/) sent to my home address. Then I can make the copies and upload them to the website. And of course send the disks back if they were the original ones... 


2/ For making a "physical" copy, i.e. copy the full disk content to another floppy disk, the only possible way so far *must* be to perform the copy operation on the E-II itself. 

- For OS disks, this is a common procedure, because it's part of the floppy disk formatting process and/or can be done with special function 14 ("write software")

- For special purpose disks, like the memory test or calibration disks, I'm not sure because I have never made a copy of them myself yet:
* I'm pretty sure the "Disk -> 4. Copy Disk" function will NOT work because this function is meant to copy sounds/sound banks. But you never know...
* However I assume that these special disks have their software actually written on the first tracks of the disks where the OS is expected normally.
Assuming I'm right, I guess that the "Special -> 14. Write Software" function can make a copy of them. 
* Or in worst case, both "Special -> 14" and "Disk -> 4" are required together to make the full copy of these special disks.

In all of these alternatives, you'll need an already formatted EII disk as a destination disk.

In case of a single drive EII, the EII knows it has only one drive and it will always ask for source and target disks to be inserted in that single drive with a pause in between (to allow for swapping disks); 
In case of an EII-HD I assume the EII-HD will behave in the same way as a single drive EII because for writing software to the HD another special function has been added (17) and for copying disks it's not possible to copy hard disks :-)


If you could try the above possibilities (especially the "Special 14" approach) to make a copy of the disks, then it would also be great if you could send me a set of these copies so that I can "KruoFlux" them for HxC users !
I guess you can check whether the copy succeeded or not by booting the EII from the newly written disk and see if it boots as OS 2.6 HD or OS 3.1 HD or as a memory test program...

I have just uploaded the trimming instructions from the original (!) Emulator II manual.

Quoting: "Final trim is done using the Scanner Diagnostic Disc, which is a part of the Final Test procdeure".

Anyone, who had to replace the trim and modhweel will NEED this. I mean need it BAD. 
Same for the Sample Offest Trim that causes clicks and thumps during sampling.

So, please, if ANYONE had access to this Scanner Diagnostic Disc.. Be nice, and share with us!

In any case, I just purchased a KryoFlux floppy controller from their Web site. It should arrive here in the United States in about a week's time. My understanding is that I need to purchase a 5.25" floppy disk drive to connect to the KryoFlux device, correct? If so, can anyone provide advice on where I might source this type of drive, what precise model I need, etc.

If I can get the KryoFlux controller working correctly with my PC or Mac, I can digitally copy these disks myself and send them to you for the EMXP site. I just may need a little technical assistance along the way!

In principle most of the 5.25 drives that were used in old PCs can be used; I removed one from my AT386 and it worked perfectly for reading Emu-II disks with the KryoFlux.
I think you will have to search on s/h marketplaces or auction sites if you don't have an old XT or AT PC at home...

Update: ditabeardmemo has kindly sent me the 3 "kryofluxed" electronic copies of his precious EII floppy disks. 
I prepared/changed these images slightly so that they can be used with the HxC software.
They have been successfully tested on my Emulator II with the SD HxC.

The 3 disk images are:
- Emulator II Operating System 2.6 HD Overlay
- Emulator II Operating System 3.1 HD Overlay
- Emulator II Memory Test (zm325)
