I have a EII + HD and the outputs pass alot of the hard drive noise. I was wondering if anyone ever addressed this problem with a mod or upgrade? If anyone knows of how to minimize this or repair it all together please let me know. Kevin Kelley

Hi,
Sounds like something is wrong. My EII+HD was fine.
I found replacing the VOLUME pot on my EII's with a high quality BOURNS
conductive plastic pot improved the audio signal quality.
Regards
Rob

Hi,
10K Log Bourns 91A1A-B28-D-10K,
Farnell Part Number at www.farnell.com 109-085
You'll need a new knob as well - as the new pot shaft is circular not D.
Farnell Part Numbers 146-357 (knob) and 146-358 (cap) - sold in packs of
5...
I deal with Farnell all the time, so I can get you the pot and knob directly
if that helps. If so let me know which country you are in and I'll quote a
price.
Regards
Rob

It's a grounding issue. Check that all your earth connections are secure and are not corroded. It might also help to replace the SCSI cable on the HD, and ensure that it is not very close to the audio output stage. Also try using DI boxes to isolate the EII- place them as close the the samplers outputs as you can. If none if those things work, a decent tech should be able to do a more thorough check of the grouding throughout the unit.
