SD conversion problems with Macdisk

SD conversion problems with Macdisk

2009-12-18 by jason_tonks

Hi all, I am trying to convert .EII files into SD format. I am using Macdisk with a Zip drive on my PC and a SCSI one on the Mac SE.
I have set the correct .sig files as E2BK and XFER. Macdisk converts the files, but they show up as text documents. Also, the file name stays as .EII extension. I try renaming them, but it makes no difference. SD does not see the converted files at all. I have tried formatting the zip disk on both the mac and through Macdisk. I am going to upload 2 files that I have tried to convert. Could someone have a look at them and tell me what I am doing wrong???

Thanks in advance, Jay

Jay,

In case of trouble, you can also use the FileTyper "fork fix" approach from Hexafuzz.
The tool and a help .TXT file can be found in the Macintosh Utilities subfolder in the files section.
This approach will allow you to correct the resource forks on the Mac itself, so that SD will recognize the files.

PS: I (still) think that there's something wrong with the ZIP disk you are using. Did you re-format it on the Mac before using it in MacDisk on Windows ?

Good idea E-Synth. I cant take credit though, that excellent FileTyper fix was devised by ingsoc_1979.

BTW: Happy Holidays to everyone on the list!
