Hi to all fellow E2 users, 
the model i have is 6028 serial 1379 it has two 5.2 drives ,when starting up it says HD mini s 20 r 2.6 It works fine and i have a small library of disks.I am trying to work out which Mac and cables are compatible with my machine as i would like to try sound designer which is sometimes mentioned on these pages  and wanted to know where to start looking to buy this software ,I was also wondering where if any where can i purchase floppy disks blank ones so i can start to store sequences and sounds ,and where i can get a hold of original emulator sounds,The last thing is can my machine be upgraded from 2.6 and do i need to do this to use a mac ,i found this store in the states with various upgrades

EMU - NEW Emu Emulator ll Firmware upgrade Rom kit, fits all Emulator ll models update's your Ell to the latest Firmware.  Includes both the Ell MAIN ROM ver 2.1 and the Ell SCANNER ROM ver 3.1.  We also have the new Emulator ll floppy drive 3.5 replacement kit in stock and shipping now.   Without a working drive an Emulator II is effectively useless, replace that failed 5.25" floppy drive now and upgrade to a new 2008 3.5 drive to protect and ensure you will be able to read your valuable sample library.

Your OS is the HardDisk version, intended for the EII+ HD.
I don't have a HD so I don't know if this OS version is OK for non-HD Emulators also (with two floppy drives).
(Is this OS loaded from a floppy ??)

Anyway, the OS version should be OK for RS422 support between EII and Mac. Anything above OS 2.3 and EPROMS 2.1 or 2.2HD should be fine.

Just check if your EII has an RS422 compatible board. Either a rev1 main board or a rev0 with piggyback RS422 additional board plugged in it will do fine.

For buying a Mac: see compatibility list on this group. A Mac SE or Classic is the safest choice. OS 7.5.3 is recommended, but 6 is usable too.
For the cable: you can make it yourself, it's very easy. But you can also buy it. More information on www.emulatorarchive.com

To expand on e-synths post:
If you have a dual floppy E-II you should be using the floppy OS (version 3.1 is the newest) instead of the harddrive OS you listed. Try cold booting with each of your disks as one may contain a floppy OS. Blank 5.25 floppy disks can be found at www.ebay.com and at www.floppydisk.com

Sound Designer and cable making/buying docs are located in the group file section. A legacy Mac with a 68030 processor and System (OS) 7.1 or better is recommended. Lots more Mac info through the group links section and the compatibility database as e-synth mentioned.
