Hi,

I have problem with my Emulator II which reads the floppy disks only sometimes.

In detail:

When I turn on the Emu the display says "***Emulator 2*** Boot in Progress" and after a while "Insert Diskette". The drives seems to run mormally with normal sound and the floppy-LEDs are frequently switching from drive 1  to drive 2.

When I insert a disk and close the lever moste times nothing happens.
Sometimes after restarting the Emu (maybe after moving (shocking?!?) it, it reads the floppy and behaves normal.

If it works after startup, it works for every disk unless shutdown.

Does anybody have any idea?

You might try cleaning your drives with canned compressed air, as well as reseating all power/data cable connectors. Clean the cable contacts (DeoxIT) while youre at it. In cases of dirty drive heads, I have also had luck using 5-1/4" cleaning disks.
