SoundDesigner Installation

2008-12-11 by George

Hi,

I have a question regarding SoundDesigner installation on my Mac
Classic. Do I simply burn the .bin file to a CD? Or can it be done
with a floppy disk? Do I need a special CD-burning program to handle
the .bin file?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx.

George

Try using WinImage

http://www.winimage.com/winimage.htm

I got my SD disk from Emulator Archive etc, But I've used Winimage to write other images for my Mac.

Regards
Mike

Mike, Thanks for your help.

I wasn't able to do it with "WinImage". I used "MagicISO" instead. I
tried to mount/burn the sounddesigner bin file to a CD after converting
it to an ISO image. But when I inserted the burned disk into my Apple
CD-Rom drive, I get the error message "Not a Macintosh Disk".

Has anyone successfully mounted/burned the SoundDesiger.bin file in the
files section of this forum? And which application did you use to do
so? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

George

George, think you need Mac disk program:

http://www.macdisk.com/downlen.php3

Format a 3.5" floppy within the program. Copy the sounddesigner .bin
file to the disk, say yes to the binary file message, close the
program, insert into your Mac and you should be ready to go !

George, You just take it over on a floppy disk. Whether or not you
need to use MacDisk to format your floppy depends on which Mac system
(OS) version your Classic is running. System 7.1 or higher with PC
Exchange (also in the file section) can read PC formatted floppies. Im
a bit hazy about what happens when you get the bin file to your Mac,
but you may also need to install Stuffit Expander (in the file section).
