MOD: Off-List Messages & Topic Threading
2008-10-07 by gclip@verizon.net
Hello emulatorII-list Members, A couple moderation notes concerning private messages and topic threading: 1. Please take all person to person messages concerning E-II sample trades off-list. Using the group to locate members to trade with is acceptable, but making the entire group (around 300 members) read the details and specifics of your private trades is not. Also please note, a folder exists in the files section to post your trade lists. PS: In addition to trades, this also goes for personal messages that are better sent off-list. For example, if you feel a need to title your post "For Hexafuzz", then its probably a better idea to just email me privately. Thanks. 2. Please be careful replying to previously established threads when your message concerns a new topic. Replying to a message and just changing the subject field is not the same as posting a new message with a new topic. This topic threading within the message archives is something new at Yahoo, its a hard concept to understand and I bet most people dont even know its happening. For an example of what Im talking about here, please have a look at the archive for the following thread (scroll down to see the message list). It starts as "EII vs Mac" and winds up evolving through TEN different topics: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/emulatorII-list/message/1562?threaded=1 I realize its much easier to hit reply and change the subject field, but if everyone can help addressing this problem it will make the message archives easier to read later. Thanks for your understanding and help concerning these issues and thanks for making this group the great resource that it is! Happy Emulating, -Phil (hexafuzz)
