Problems with Mac Classic II 7.0.1

Problems with Mac Classic II 7.0.1

2008-09-14 by mrjdevries

Hey all, I've just recently got a Mac Classic running 7.0.1 OS. (4mb
ram)

I've previously been able to get my mac IIsi to talk to my Emulator II,
but the Classic is proving to be stubborn.

SoundDesigner try's to talk to the Emu, the drive on the emu whirs,
then I get an error on the mac "I can't communicate with Emu II" and my
emulator II locks up with a message on its display "Under Mac control",
but no button pressing or anything will free it up..
Choosing the option in SD called "Remove mac control" does nothing
either.
The only way I can find is to power down the EMU II.

Does anyone out there with a Classic running 7.0.1 have any tips?
I've switch "appletalk" to OFF, switched off virtual memory etc.
I've played with the extensions folder, (Which i'm guessing is similar
to 'drivers' on a PC?)

Does anyone who has a working classic -> Emulator II configuration have
a list of what is in their extensions folder?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Mike

Cant remember how to solve this behavior, but I have seen it before.
You seem to be checking the right things, so I cant offer much: Remove
any midi cables if connected. You might try switching your boot
sequence (Mac First-E-II Second or vice-versa). You might also try
putting the E-II under Mac control manually before trying SD
communication. An extension conflict is a good thought, especially any
having to do with communications, networking, or port control.

PS: Is this a Classic or a Classic-II? You say Classic-II in your
subject line, but just Classic in your message. They are different
machines:

It's a Classic II.

Still plugging away, but no luck right now.. I've never owned or spent much time with a Mac before, let alone a vintage one.. lots to learn.

"Best Synth" disk w/ sound "04 Chorus Pad"??

2008-09-16 by Sean Wolcott

Hello by dear E2'ers...

I have this disk for my E2, and it has the most lush pad. I LOOOOVE it.
Thing is, it doesn't seem to be a part of a normal library I know of.

Any ideas?

You can hear it choked all over this track of mine here:

All the best!
