Hi Kenneth
How are You ? Is the weather is good ?
Do you listen all your great sound from the EI ?
My EI wait a little floppy to boot and make sound :-) Can you send me a disk please ?
I send you the link for the floppy drive conversion : http://torlus.com/floppy/index.php?en
I talk with the creator of this system, he tell me a 5 1/4" drive can be emulate like C64.
Cheers
Thomas

I have the formatting software but I am not sure if it works 100%.

I tried to format one of my blank EII discs yesterday, and it didn’t exactly
work ‘like a charm’ J

I guess it formatted the disc, and I was also able to load in some samples
afterwards and save them to the newly formatted disc, but it wouldn’t load
and I guess it behaved a little strange when saving.

But hey; the Emulator behaves strange all the time J

Hi Thomas (and the rest of the group).

For those few of you interested I have now cataloged my floppies for the Emulator I purchased recently (yes; I am a nerd).

If interested you can see what floppies I have here:

http://www.12bit.com/emulatordb/

And for you Thomas: I am having problems formatting a blank floppy. As soon as I get it to work I will send you one (I am not really interested in sending one of my floppies as I don’t have any doubles J).

Emulator I sample list

2008-02-28 by Mike de Vries

The Midi disk, is just that, for Midi!

You need the midi interface though.. it's a small dongle that plugs into the back D-Sub connector.. then you boot the Emu I up from the midi disk.. once the OS loads, you can then carry on using the EI as normal, loading up other banks etc.

I sometimes midi up my EI.. it's pretty cool. It transmits & receives of Midi ch1

  Regards

  Mike

Any info on how this MIDI works ?

I wonder if it’s just a matter of knowing what pins goes where in order to create your own MIDI interface for it.

RE: [emulatorII-list] Emulator I sample list

2008-02-28 by rob

Hi
The Emulator MIDI fits into the RS232 socket on the Emulator digital board.
All the ones I have seen have kludges on this board (blue wires).
I have photos of the kludges but this is not enough to replicate the kludges
(some wires go under the uprocessor).
I don't have the E-mu Systems documentation on this one, but it is possible
to clone the MIDI interface box quite easily.

BUT...Retrofiiting MIDI to an Emulator is tricky, you'll need the OS and the
MIDI box, but also RS232 connected, the latest digital board and maybe some
kludging as well.

I'd be intrested to know if Mikes Emulator has kludges or a Rev 5 or even 6
digital board.

rob

SV: [emulatorII-list] Emulator I sample list

2008-02-29 by Kenneth Abildgaard

Aah … I just LOVE the way the Emulator is so easy to open – well.

I took a shot of the RS232 connectors from the inside of my Emulator.

The picture is here:

http://www.12bit.com/emulator/rs232.jpg

I must admit that I am not familiar with the term ‘kludge’. Maybe due to the
fact that English is not my primary language – is it when you add something
to an already existing board ?

My RS232 inteface has most definitely been used for something as it’s
clearly used, and I do have that MIDI disk laying around, so maybe seller
just didn’t know where it was or has misplaced it ?

I would be MOST interested if someone could help figuring out how to make a
MIDI interface for it, or maybe I should just mail Dave Rossum and ask. I
wonder how he would respond J
