Did you ever sell this? I see that you are 416 area code, are you close to Toronto? I am in Buffalo, NY. I currently have an Emu II, but I love the older EMU stuff. Please let me know. Hi, Has any one got the EII E-mu factory disks "Karplus Strings 2" and/or "Mixed Voices 4" ?? If so would you mind sending me a copy of them in exchange for some pro EII samples on diskette or in SD for EII format ? If I can locate these 2 disks the Archive will have the complete E-mu factory library in SD for EII format. These 96 Sample banks will be available on a free CD for any EII user. Cool! Thanks Rob The Emulator Archive www.emulatorarchive.com

Hi, Can anyone help with installing a new hard drive into an Emulator II+HD? I am using a refurb Miniscribe 8425 drive, with OS 2.6 HD and a prepared error list on floppy. When trying to format either the old or new hard drive I get HD ERROR 36 and the drive refuses to format. The HD interface works okay as the old drive will read/write when its spinning. Anyone got any ideas what the problem is? Does anyone have a copy of the EII OS 3.1 HD or 2.2 HD which they could send me in exchange for sample diskettes ? Regards Rob The Emulator ARchive

Hi, The list is a bit quiet...so here is some news...!! Powerbooks are really handy to use with an Emulator II. They have a small footprint and bright screen so they fit easily in the studio, and they are portable - so you can take you samples with your EII when you gig. Just load Sound Designer for EII onto a Powerbook with a serial port. It can be a PB5300 with a shared port, or a PB150 - 180 with separate ports. The set up is slighly different - but we can advise on both. With a serial cable between Powerbook and EII, you can transfer complete sample banks in seconds, and hold your entire sample library on the Powerbooks hard drive. No more diskettes! At the Archive we have a PB180C (OS 7.6.1) and a PB5300C (OS 8.6) hooked up to EII's. If you need the software, EII samples or advise on setup just email info@... Regards Rob

Hi, If you have an EII+HD with a hard drive that doesn't work, here is the way to sort it out. Buy a refurbished Miniscribe 8425 MFM drive from CCD Drives at http://www.ccsdrives.com/. It will cost around US 75 - 100 dollars. It is an exact replacement. Ensure you have a copy of OS 3.1 HD on floppy diskette (we can send you one for free). Then make a note of the error list on the side of the new drive, its on a piece of paper attached to the drive. Install the new hard drive and boot up OS 3.1 HD from floppy. Using SPECIAL 19 enter the new error list and save to floppy. Then format the hard disk with SPECIAL 22. A few minutes later you will have a new working hard drive ready for loading with all your cool samples. Unfortuantely if you don't have a hard drive already installed there is no way you can retrofit one. The Adaptec interface is still about but the E-mu SCSI interface is obsolete - although recreatable. Happy Emulating! Rob

Hi, If you have an Emulator II and fancy another 512 KB of memory, you can have your wish after all! If you have digital board rev 1 you can repopulate the memory with 256kbit DRAM , set the jumpers on the board and install a new Boot ROM (+ version). Then using OS 3.1 you have a second bank of memory to load samples into! No wiring cahnges, no kludges, just a simple chip swap. Interested? Well in a few weeks time we will have the Boot ROM's for people wanting to do this upgrade. Then its just a matter of finding a friendly service centre to do the work, and getting those memory chips for $3 each. In the UK you can use Music Control, who have already done this upgrade - in fact they are the aces techs that found out how to do it! Regards Rob

Hi, Some news for Emulator II owners.... Would you like 1000 professional sample banks for your Emulator II? Well now you can with the forthcoming release of the two original OMI sample CDROM's in Sound Designer for EII format. You can stop looking for an obsolete RS422 CDROM drive, now you can use your SD for EII Mac software to load hundreds of sample banks into your EII. Each Mac CD will have over 500 sample banks, with synthesizers, orchestra, FX, basses, ethnic, guitars, pianos, the list goes on and on. Working from the original EII CDROM's we have transfered all 1000 samples into SD for EII format and arranged a licensing deal with the copyright owners at QUpArts. Each CD will have 500 samples and cost just 75 US dollars. The quality of the samples is consistently high. If you are interested in one or both of these amazing CD's please email info@... for the sample bank listing. Provided there is sufficient interest from customers we will manufacture the CD's starting from 1st June 2002. Regards - Rob The Emulator Archive www.emulartorarchive.com

Great Job Rob ! To locate those cds and the cds-3 is almost impossible and the people who own it would not sell it for any price ! I'm not complaining,i'm one of those but for the people here who don't have those sounds i have to tell you all that you must get those asap ! So many good sounds are in thoses banks ! Do you think to add another way of payement than Paypall rob,i am deeply thinking about to get the Sound designer kit from you but i hate the idea to have my credit card informations saved somewhere in the US. Another quick question comes to my mind : what's the AD input on the back of the EII. Cheers Laurent

Hi,
Thanks for the +++ feedback! We ceased taking online credit card payments
due to the high level of fraud. We take payments via PayPal because it is
more secure for the buyer and seller and good old fashioned cash (US dollars
or UK pounds). We also trade for new ZIP carts.
The AD input on the EII is for the volume pedal. You can assign it to
control volume and a few other things with Realtime Controls.
Regards
Rob
