Help needed for connecting E II and PB 1400cs

Help needed for connecting E II and PB 1400cs

2007-03-24 by nisgrella

Hi Friends,

I`ve bought a Powerbook 1400 cs for using SD f E II. The only thing that comes, is: I can`t
communicate with the E II!

MIDI is on, connected are they at the seriell port. What can I try? Some Tips?

Best Regards Nis

I've got some PB's too that won't work with the Emulator II.
Not the 1400 though...

Anyway, I also thought that my PB 180C wouldn't work with the EII.
But after switching ON the AppleTalk function on the Mac, everything
suddenly went fine.
On other PB's you have to do exactly the opposite: make sure that
AppleTalk is switched OFF...

I don't think anyone will ever understand 100% what the exact
requirements are for an Emulator II compatible Mac-setup :-)

So you can try the AppleTalk stuff...
Or you can try to put the EII in Mac Mode manually (with Special
function)...
Or finally you can buy another Mac which is compatible with EII: see
the compatibility list in the database on this group.

Good luck

Im not exactly sure what you mean above, but in addition to what
esynthesist said, make sure *NO* midi cables are connected to the E-II
when using Sound Designer.

I wish we could know what the developers used. I am
inclined to think that it might have been something
from the Mac II series. The IIfx absolutely never so
much as hiccups, never requires manual Mac Mode
selection. There is the possibility that the infamous
IOP is actually helping in this (snap)case.

I am about to clock-chip mine to 50MHz, it'll be
interesting to see if there are any ill effects on
peripherals. I am doing this as an experiment to see
if Audiomedia / SD II will run any better. [w]

I think it was earlier than that. If you look at the SD advertisement
in the photo section it looks like a Mac Plus:

SD Mac cables DB-25 to mini-DIN8 OFFER

2007-03-26 by Wayne Griffin

I am making up some E2 SD cables and I wanted to know
if anyone in the US or Canada needs one on this batch.

I'm not charging anything, I just need people to
paypal me for parts and shipping which is prolly like
$15

It's just as much trouble to build and test 5 as it is
1 so I thought I would offer this to the group.

Each order can specify their desired length- I've been
using 8 ft. I'll use good materials and my soldering
is tops.

This offer stands for two weeks from to-day, 07.03.26

ad fontes, [w]
