FMS Software Design ORIGINAL sample library FOR SALE

FMS Software Design ORIGINAL sample library FOR SALE

2007-03-05 by adr3laynyc

Greetings friends,

I have a complete ORIGINAL set of the famous FMS SOFTWARE DESIGN sample library
from 1985, minus three (3) of the total fifty (50) floppies that I prefer to sell to someone
on the list instead of on ebay.

There's some really interesting stuff here, and all of the disks are in good shape for their
age, although the adhesive that was used on the labels has started to dry out and some of
them are coming loose after 22 years, but they all boot fine and are still usable. Please
note, I haven't tested each and every one of the 47 disks, but the 25 or so that I have tried
worked perfect. I will try and post pictures of the set in the photos section, and below is a
list of all the volumes that I have, with #3, #4, and #7 missing.

I have nothing to gauge the value of this original library, so I was hoping to entertain any
reasonable offers from anyone on the list who might want to buy them. I have 100%
positive feedback on ebay, ID: "a d r e l a y n y c" (no quotes or spaces) and a reputation
for accurate descriptions, and I have shipped many fragile items overseas, so international
buyers are more than welcome, although I'm in New York City for anyone who is local. Of
course, I ask that the buyer pay all the shipping/insurance fees, and a PayPal transaction is
most preferred.

Thanks for looking, and please make sure to contact me off-list if you want them.

-Robert

Why can't we all just share them? It's been 20
years... I am planning to seed my 100+ floppy
commercial sound library on bittorrent that I got from
a North Carolina doctor who was loosing his ass in a
simultaneous divorce malpractice suit (sob). (He drove
his Mercedes across the country to L.A. in '85 and
maxed out his credit card to bring this back home- we
drove away and he was practically in tears) Me and my
best friend sat in the kitchen with my EII HD cracked
open with two fans blowing across it for hours to rip
the whole thing. We had a damn good time. We thought
we were like Alan Silvestri or Harold Faltermeyer. I
have it all burned to a single HFS CD. I used my
System 6 IIfx for that whole session.

I have had wonderful EII success with my IIfx -
SWIM's IWM's 6502 perhaps??? (I wonder what it would
be like to run RS-422 PCI board with Basilisk on
Linux)

...Once again... I think the EII community should
share these assets. Maybe when ready I can place my
EII lib torrent file in the group file area? wayne griffin

Hi Wayne,

Yes, that would be a nice thing. In spite of this recent "library for sale" post,
I think that everyone with an E-II or DPX-1 would like as large a collection of
sample banks to draw from as possible. We are the largest E-II user group on the
net and the only visible remaining caretakers for this instrument.

We have tried in the past on this list to stimulate interest in trading sample
banks online and the group file section has all the programs needed for anyone
with a Sound Designer enabled system. The sad truth is though, out of over 200
members here, only two members (Heiko and myself) were interested in trading online.

In the past, I have considered posting the entire E-II Factory Library in the
group file section. Imagine how great it would be to buy an E-II with no library
(as many of us have done) and then to find this group and have an instant
collection available.

However, we dont live in a perfect world. As long as there are people who feel
that they can profit by selling disks on eBay etc, I will be staying away from
doing that. I dont want people joining this group just to download free banks and
then leaving without contributing anything. Furthermore, some of these samples are
still commercially available from the original designers. Until we have written
permission from the copyright holders, I am not willing to use this group for
unauthorized distribution of their materials. I am just an Emulator-II user/fan, I
am not a lawyer and have no desire to hire or become one.

For these reasons, I only share my banks via private FTP with an upload/download
ratio to ensure fair non-profit trading and user verification. As previously
mentioned in message 878, if any group members here are interested in trading
online in Sound Designer format via FTP; you can message me off-list (put "E-II
Trades" in the subject line).

Thats my take on this subject, I would enjoy reading how others feel about it.

Best,

Hello Phil and everybody,

I'm relatively new to the group, but what you said about being caretakers
for this instrument resonates with me. I would be interested in trading
sounds; I have about 900 disks mostly from the CD-ROMs.

I guess I better find time to learn about setting up a SD system.

Welcome Rick,
Yeah, get yourself a Mac and join the fun! You should be able to find
whatever you need about setting up a SD system in the group message
archives, links, and file section. If you get stuck there are
definitely folks here who can help.

Best,
Phil
