I use an Eventide Time factor delay for old synths. You can simulate the bit depth you want - mine is usually set to early 80's 12 bit crappiness or lower. I love that it fit's nicely on top of keyboards, it automatically follows MIDI tempo and it's just covered with knobs. It does great tape loop emulation as well. I occasionally use an old Roland SDE-1000, an excellent sounding 12 bit delay which is easy to find and can be had for cheap. --- In emulatorII-list@yahoogroups.com, Nick Zampiello <newallianceeast@...> wrote: > > I don't have an EII but my fave delay is an old 80's deltalab Effectron III >  > So warm and so not crappy sounding. > > even has awesome distortion is you clip the input really hard. > > z > >  > NEW ALLIANCE EAST!!!! > > -------------------------------------- > > > New Alliance East - Mastering > > New Alliance East - Facebook > > X :::: B :::: S > > > > > ________________________________ > From: James Ulibarri <jamesulibarri@...> > To: emulatorii-list <emulatorII-list@yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2012 1:46 PM > Subject: [emulatorII-list] EII + effects processors > > >  > For years I have been a tad frustrated how the EII sounds through modern day effects processors. > As a result, I was using a DP4 and DP/4+ (they sound a little different) but still was off to my ears.  I would also sample the EII and use VST's. > Still not satsatisfied. Something about the EII's engine just didn't sound right tonally to me through these > processors.  Recently I started picking up 12bit processors.  Wow, what a difference. I think the EII > sounds so good with units as the original Alesis Midiverb (12bit tabletop unit) and Midifex. And the Korg DVR1000. > Warning, the old Alesis units reverb tales just crumble in 12bit crust. It's crazy. So does the echo unit. But > the limited bandwith and bit depth really seems to sound more congruent with the EII's filters and sampling engine. I guess it depends > what you're trying to achieve. Older processors and the EII is instant lo-fi bliss.
