I assume you have tried to boot with the built-in disk drives ? If so the "insert disk" prompt could be simply an indication of a dirty disk drive. Office supply stores sell 5.25" drive cleaning kits for under 10.00.The "insert disk" shows up with a dirty drive because it just does'nt see that there is a disk inserted. Many times, just cleaning the disk drive will fix the problem.
Best of luck, it sucks when you're ready to go but your electronics are not.

Last saturday I picked up a semi-working EII, it came with the OMI CDS3 optical drive and the original 3 UOS disks. However, it seems dead and won't power up. When I flip the power switch on, I can hear a humming sound inside, presumably from the psu, but the power-led in the front won't light and the tray won't open either. Anyone experience with these drives can tell me if there's hope? Thanks in advance.
