Re: A several problems with EII

2003-09-05 by grkh2003

Hi, and thanks a lot, guys! You are great!

To Rob Keeble (and all others)
I have a news, regarding my problems. Today I've discovered the
following new facts:

The problem #2:
Let's say it's morning. So, I try to turn on my EII for the first
time - It freezes (the display is showing "boot in process", several
LEDs are shining constantly). I turn it off - then turn it on again -
the same thing. After several turn offs and ons - the same picture,
but the disk drives start to make a noise. After another several turn
offs and ons - EII starts to ask a disc to be inserted - and loads
and works OK (except the problems 1&3). SO! Since this moment, if I
try to turn it off - then turn on again - my EII will be always
booting ok and asking for the disk.
In other words, there is an effect of "warming up" - after many turn
offs and ons - it always starts and boots ok. But if I turn it off
for some more time (say, several hours) - it then starts to freeze
again.
I hope this fact can give you some more understanding of my problem.

The problem #3:
I think it is not the memory, because I found out that after the
sound is became distorted or even if it "came to silence" - it can be
playing normal again after some time. This evening, I managed to play
the presets without the problem #3 during more than 1 hour... I
suppose, this means that the memory is OK. If I right here, then what
could be the reason for this problem?

Can you recommend me something more detailed after this new
information from me? Thank you very much!

To Simon:
I live in Moscow, Russia. So, Vienna service is quite far from me :)
Thank you very much, anyway...

To Dana:
OK, thank you very much. I'll try to do it tomorrow, when I'm
planning to open up my EII.

Grigory
