can you hear any activity in the VU meter? turn up the gain with the knob. also see if you hear anything by increasing to 20db, etc

Somehow I can see no signal in , when connecting a source to the Sample In jack and trying to sample. Before getting into the hardware, can anybody think about anything wrong that might be doing ?
