I think Tim from CF wants one payment from one person.  And they want it in advance from what I gather before they go into production.  Elm, this is not a lot of money for the part even if you lost it.    I have opted out to handle all that due to time constraints and I would be afraid of someone turning on me if something goes wrong.  You would also need someone to ship them all out.   Tim said minimum of two months or maybe longer due to production times in China right now.  I'll call Tim again if you want me to this week.  But this is what I thought he said.

I am only trying to gather enough members to make a purchase possible, otherwise I am just a customer same as everyone else.

Everyone will pay CrystalFontz directly and *they* will be responsible for fulfillment. Price of the LCDs desired (after our quantity discount) plus shipping to your location.

Again, final pricing and terms of sale cannot be negotiated or agreed upon with CrystalFontz until we have enough members to place an order.

I am sorry to hear this. Was this for an Emulator-II related item transacted through this group? If so, this kind of problem should be reported to the moderators and/or group at large. Not only to warn/protect other members, but also to give the seller an opportunity to present his side of the story and hopefully offer some kind of resolution.
