All I know at this point is that my tech changed a chip to get the gibberish to quit. I'm not sure what chip it is yet. I will know more saturday.

I am tempted to do the 80x36 blue and just bolt down one side and silicone the other side.
That's what Forat does, and there are no problems. I can't see the purists doing this. Actually I can't see the purists even putting in anything else besides a NOS LCD. And I respect that too. I haven't talked to Crystal Fontz yet, but hopefully tomorrow.

This one is a 144x32 Graphic LCD while the green one you successfully installed in your E-II is a 16x2 Parallel Character LCD. Will this make any difference as to E-II compatibility or installation?

No doubt. I think it will look pretty boss in the E-II too since the E-II has plenty of black & white (keys, drives, wheels, sliders, buttons). ;)
