Re: [emulatorII-list] dynamic filters on SP12?

2003-08-02 by Simon Wotton

thanx for the info, rob...

shame, i was really excited about the comment on your site, but on the other hand wondering, why there wasn´t anything mentioned in the original manual...

i will definately NOT open my SP12 or fiddle arround with it - but i don´t want to do that. i have heard of some people building cutoff and resonance knobs on a Korg EX800/poly800 - and certainly there are some, who have a mod for placing the trimmers somewhere on the main pannel of the SP12...

i will keep things unmodified - TRUESCHOOL

thanx for the info - could you tell me if fiddeling arround with RT5 and RT6 makes drastic changes in filter-settings or is it just for factory-fine-tuning by emu?

best regards, simon

  Hi,
The two SSM2044 filters can be adjusted only in hardware, they are not
accessible via the SP-12 Operating System. You can play with trimmers RT5
and RT6 on the main PCB or replace the resistors if you are into electronics
and know how the SSM2044 is set up. This is really a service tech job and we
don't recommend users play around with these settings/trimmers.

    hi all!!!

on the emulator-archive i read about dynamic filters on the SP12 -
it is said, that two of the filters can be internelly ajusted!!!
how can i adjust them? - which menu must i use to manipulate them?

    thanx in advance -
here the text, copied from the emulator-archive:

"Yes, the SP-12 has analog filters !

Two of the channels the ride/crash and hit hats are unfiltered.

Four others (snare/rim, bass, claps. cowbell) are each filtered with
a static five pole 1dB Chebyshev filter, set at frequencies to
    optimise the sounds.

The remaining two channels (the toms) each use a dynamic VCF. They
use the SSM2044 with a simple AR enevelope generated by the Z80.
They create a 5ms sloping attack, followed by a decay. The
    frequencies can be internally adjusted."
