Hi Hex,
It doesn't look well onside but it works well - the breadboard is full of wires )))))
here is few photos before I put all together to 5.25 case.

Prototype schematics is a little bit complex than production. It does have three additional logic ICs that was removed later and that's why new FW is different. 
So, again all what I said about minor issues before is only part of prototype and production version is not affected by this. 
I got few emails these days about installing HxC to other instruments, sure, it's 99% possible but first clarify it with Jeff on his forum. He is ready to add support of new floppy formats.
