Re: [emulatorII-list] Re: Emulator sounds for sale

Hi all.

I too have been emailing with Doug in the past and he is an extremely nice and easy guy to communicate with :-).

I bought the two CDROMs he has available, and they are indeed in "Sound Designer" format but NOT "Sound Designer for EII" format.

Meaning; you CAN import the samples into any softwaresampler using appropriate conversion applications (or Emulator II for that matter using SD for EII), but it is NOT the .EII banks or SD4EII banks format. So you will have to create all the presets and settings yourself.

The SD for EII banks were - to my knowledge - only available through the OMI/CDS-3 system.
So someone converted these into SD for EII format at some point - and I thank the lord for people like that.

Let me know if I am wrong here Doug :-)

Doug replied to me off list that the OMI 1 & 2 cds that he has are in
SD format and $79 each. So theoretically, those could be converted
with EMXP to SoundFont2, or DPXtools to DPX floppies, no?

The price seems reasonable. I'm going to buy one soon, but need to do
a bit more research to decide which one. If anyone has any opinions I
would love to hear. Or better yet any demos/examples.

It's a pity IMO that the Northstar disks are so expensive and only on
floppies. Maybe someone who has converted them all to SD could offer
them a cd which, they could then duplicate and sell... or maybe they
don't really care. I can't imagine they sell many of those floppies.
