Hi, tonight I gave it another shot and the Classic booted fine again. I even got SD to communicate with the EII almost instantly, which I'm really thrilled about btw. I was reading in the Mac forums you guys recommended and it sounds indeed like the battery or leaky caps. I will have to try to open the Classic up if the problem comes back and find the culprit. Sounds like dismantling a compact mac is quite the endeavour considering the shocking hazard from the CRT, the long torx driver and case splitter tool needed... Anyways...thanks a lot for your help guys. I think I'm going to play with my EII now ;) George
