I tried to google ed miller studio 9, but can't find him. Do you have his phone number or email address by any chance? thanks so much. george --- In emulatorII-list@yahoogroups.com, sm papke <mothrecords@...> wrote: > > If I were going to fix the PSU myself, I would have to say start with replacing the 4x 100uf 200v "black" caps in the top R corner, with the "zip-ties" around them first. This had cleared up the same "scrambled screen" problems I had a while back on an EII. It only took about 15-20 min. to finish the job. Eventually, I just went ahead and replaced all of the electrolytic capacitors on the whole PSU, and it has been running for a few years now, with absolutely no problems since! Please note that this PSU had been sitting around, separate from the EII itself, so it had no power going to it for a while. I felt much safer working on it, otherwise I would have been a bit nervous to start poking around on one that had been in-use. *YOU ALL KNOW HOW DANGEROUS PSU REPAIR CAN BE!! PLEASE BE AWARE/KNOWLEDGEABLE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING IF YOU ATTEPT THIS YOURSELF, OR HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE* as I'm sure you want to live another day to play your lovely/magical EII > :) Also, I would not suggest Advanced Audio on Venice Blvd. I have brought them older pieces they were not too familiar with, that just sat around un-touched for weeks, only to end up fixing them at home myself. They should have no problem re-capping a PSU if you just bring them the PSU only, but it will definitely cost you! I highly recommend contacting Ed Miller over at a place called Studio9 on Sunset Blvd. for anyone in the Los Angeles area. He's a bit of a synth guru, and would have no problem fixing the PSU on an EII (I believe he used to work at Roland). His prices are also extremely reasonable and fair, which is pretty rare these days. Hope you get it fixed soon! > Cheers > > > --- On Mon, 11/3/08, hexafuzz <gclip@...> wrote: > > > From: hexafuzz <gclip@...> > > Subject: [emulatorII-list] Re: Start-up Freeze Problem Update > > To: emulatorII-list@yahoogroups.com > > Date: Monday, November 3, 2008, 3:32 AM > > --- In emulatorII-list@yahoogroups.com, "George" > > <trickstar303@> wrote: > > > > > > I also would like to troubleshoot the PSU.
