Your right. The E2 is a strong workhorse and the E3 is somewhat fragile and a maintenance machine. The E3 cardcase and the long internal cables are not the best design.

Do you know much about E2 vs E3 for reliability? ??
In general are the E2s better suited for long life

---my understanding that E3 was over engineered and because of the 
card cage and keeps on breaking down
