SV: [emulatorII-list] Emulator I sample list

2008-02-29 by Kenneth Abildgaard

Aah … I just LOVE the way the Emulator is so easy to open – well.

I took a shot of the RS232 connectors from the inside of my Emulator.

The picture is here:

I must admit that I am not familiar with the term ‘kludge’. Maybe due to the
fact that English is not my primary language – is it when you add something
to an already existing board ?

My RS232 inteface has most definitely been used for something as it’s
clearly used, and I do have that MIDI disk laying around, so maybe seller
just didn’t know where it was or has misplaced it ?

I would be MOST interested if someone could help figuring out how to make a
MIDI interface for it, or maybe I should just mail Dave Rossum and ask. I
wonder how he would respond J

Hi
The Emulator MIDI fits into the RS232 socket on the Emulator digital board.
All the ones I have seen have kludges on this board (blue wires).
I have photos of the kludges but this is not enough to replicate the kludges
(some wires go under the uprocessor).
I don't have the E-mu Systems documentation on this one, but it is possible
to clone the MIDI interface box quite easily.

BUT...Retrofiiting MIDI to an Emulator is tricky, you'll need the OS and the
MIDI box, but also RS232 connected, the latest digital board and maybe some
kludging as well.

I'd be intrested to know if Mikes Emulator has kludges or a Rev 5 or even 6
digital board.

Regards
rob

Any info on how this MIDI works ?

I wonder if it's just a matter of knowing what pins goes where in order to
create your own MIDI interface for it.

Any info - anyone ?
