You need to have disks. Otherwise the instrument won't do anything (as any vintage emu equipment without a harddisk). In case of EI, you even need special disks for formatting your own disks and multisampling software, etc... Unfortunately, I've misplaced all of my EI disks, but mine doesn't work properly, anyway... :( Good luck. Greetings.
