Hi Malte, I had this problem as well. The Emu couldn't read from any drive. I have cleaned the heads several times with no result. A swap from upper to lower drive helped for a short time. The only solution that brought me back in business was to replace one drive to a 3 1/4 drive. You can buy it at the EMU shop. Not cheep but it's worth because the emu works fine after that. Problem when the upper drive doesn't work is to get formated disk for the lower drive. My upper drive worked one more time(after I hitted the drive some times) so I made could make some formating disks.
