Hi All, (bit long this one but you need the background I suppose) I recently acquired a 'dead' E2. The guy said he plugged a CD-Rom into the RS422, it went bang and that was it. I've had the PSU fixed by an EMU Service Centre and on re-fitting it the E2 powers up, no display, some LEDs constantly lit, the drives whirr and seem to attempt to read the disks for a bit then stop. Sometimes though, the drives just make a feint whirr and make no attempt at reading the disk. Either way, the LCD is blank and the LED's remain on. Help !! Any ideas. The Service Centre doesn't want to touch it (i've tried two very reputable ones). I've looked through your diagnostic sheets Rob and unless I can magic an engineer's EEPROM off EBAY I think its a no go. I'm fairly sure the drives are OK (can I disconnect the bottom one and try booting from just the top - it seems to go further like that). As the RS422 is linked direct to the Z80 is that my likely problem ? Can I still get these anywhere and if so do you know the exact spec ? Is it worth reseating the chips etc ?? I'd appreciate any help !! By the way, Digikey will still sell the replacement displays you mentioned previously. I'm awaiting a price from the US - unless you know of any supplier in the UK ? Regards Paul
