Re: [emulatorII-list] Re: EII going live

2007-06-16 by Tommy Priakos

Hi David,

It would be a surprise if he met his end in Arkansas, no big acts ever make it a point to play here, unless they're just passing through! Well, I take that back, we are starting to get some big names here...

I still take my EII out for a spin on gigs once or twice a month. It has a few popping noises and then if I either jiggle the line going to the Mix Out jack or tap the bottom of the keyboard, it works great for the rest of the night. The old beast still stands out and holds its own on many types of sounds. For example, people claim they thought we had a horn section tucked away somewhere when we play. I got a disk from E-mu years ago that was converted from Emax samples called Emax Pop Brass, and it's pretty authentic. I don't have the SD software or a Mac so I can't offer it on the Files section for everybody. I'm more of a PC user.

There is no hard drive prayer I know of, but could
have used one many times.
Opening for Icehouse in the 80's, my DX 7 IIFD drive
would freeze when too near the masive power cluster
f--k that powered up their 200,000watts of overhead
par cans.
I remember a stage hand tipping me off and running for
a 200 ft extension cord. We moved way away from the
power pole where the lighting was getting juice...and
it loaded right up.
He should be a major league technical giant by
now...........
but he's most likely passed-out in a pile of empty
beer cans in a Motel 6 in Arkansas.
Sorry,............he saved the show.
