Hi Simon
Just a suggestion:
Try and activate the 'Special' module buttom on the EII before you try communicating from the Mac. Some EII's seem to have trouble activating this module.
What Mac model are you using. Have you checked with the Mac compatible list in the Database section in this group.
Make sure that your EII does not receive midi data when your Mac communicate with the EII. Pull out the midi cable to be sure. The EII freezes up when receiving midi when in Mac mode.
I hope this helps you
Best regards
Brian

Hi there
Well, i've finally aquired my shiny new EII and i'm having difficulty connecting it up to my Mac.
I've got an old Powermac G3 running MacOS 8.6. I've tried both the modem and printer port
to try and get the two talking and i'm not having any luck. I've checked the extensions to see
if the serial ports and enabled and they are. The message i'm getting is "I can't communicate
with the E2, make sure cable is connected and the current preset has midi on."
How do i check to see if the current preset has midi on. I'm sure it probably does.
I've also tried 2 cables. It this vintage of mac compatible?
Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance.
Simon
