Hi there

Well, i've finally aquired my shiny new EII and i'm having difficulty connecting it up to my Mac.  
I've got an old Powermac G3 running MacOS 8.6.  I've tried both the modem and printer port 
to try and get the two talking and i'm not having any luck.  I've checked the extensions to see 
if the serial ports and enabled and they are.  The message i'm getting is "I can't communicate 
with the E2, make sure cable is connected and the current preset has midi on."  

How do i check to see if the current preset has midi on.  I'm sure it probably does.
I've also tried 2 cables.  It this vintage of mac compatible?


Any ideas anyone?  Thanks in advance.
