Firstly thanks for the advice re: power supply and keys. The faulty keys are a C, B & yep you guessed it right... the Top C. If anyone does come across any please shout - otherwise I'll wait for Route66 to produce their copies. With regards to the power supply... Phillip, are you saying that I need to measure the resistance (you mentioned ohms as opposed to voltage) between the 0 and 5v wires that come out of the power supply, i.e. I get a multimeter and attach one cable to the 0v wire and the other to the 5v wire and read off the display ? Is there a way I can isolate the main board from the power supply and see if the disk drives power up ? If it comes to fitting a PC power unit, is their a standard to these, i.e. the yello wire is x volts whereas the red is y volts etc ? Sorry to seem a bit thick but I'm grateful for your help Regards Paul --- In emulatorII-list@y..., Philipp Staudinger <ratemusic@g...> wrote: > hi paul, > > 1st you must disconnect the powersupply from the mainboard to check it for > shortcuts. > the emulator has a switching power supply with a protection circuit, this > means the powersupply > don´t work if there is a shortcut on the eII mainboard. check between > "ground" and the +5v pin, > with an "ohm meter" (i don´t know the right word in english, sorry), if you > get "0 ohms" or "10-20 ohms" you have a bigger problem, the emulator have a > shortcut on the mainboard !!!! > > if not ,it´s easy to use a standart pc powersupply in the emulator, you can > ,with a little technical background, change it by youself. > i have added to this mail the schematics from the eII powersupply. other > informations are availible > from "www.emulatorarchives.com) - a very nice page !! > > hope this will help you > > Von: nashy_boyuk@y... > Antworten an: emulatorII-list@y... > Datum: Thu, 25 Oct 2001 16:43:01 -0000 > An: emulatorII-list@y... > Betreff: [emulatorII-list] Dead E2 > > > Hello All, > > I've just bought a dead EII with some library and OS3.1 (if it works). > > I was told by the previous owner that he plugged a CD-ROM unit into > the RS interface and the whole thing blew.
