Hi Heiko
I did this 3.5" drive modification around 5 years ago so don't remember in detail.
I searched for drives with the posibilities of changing the jumper settings for the ID 0 and 1.I collected around 10 different 3.5" floppy drives from Fujitsu and HP computers (typically 66 to 133Mhz type cpu computers) and tried each of them out. I jumpered the drive either to 0 or 1 (don't remember), painted the front end black and mounted the drive in the lower bay in a 3.5" to 5.25" adapter frame.
I had to find a power cable adapter to fit the new drive and as I recall I had to find a data cable adapter too.
I¨m able to read and write banks to the 3.5" drive the same way as I do with the 5.25" drive.
I think it all comes down to finding the right drive which doesn't have to be the TEAC FD235HF-A529 as long as the floppy drive ID can be changed. My EII is running on OS 2.6.
Feel free to ask any further questions and I try to answer :-)
Best regards
Brian
