LFO's "Freak" (Hummer commercial)

Re: LFO's "Freak" (Hummer commercial)

I dunno. People have written here that he uses the monomachine. I
don't know if the mono was released when he released "freak", however.

Are they using it for a hummer commercial? At least some people are
getting some goods from one of the worst automobiles available to the
public.

Have you seen the video?

offtopic:
Why are there less taxes on SUVs and bullshit cars like the Hummer in
the US than on "normal" cars?
What is the use in saving energy and focussing on alternative energies
when the US does not only refuse to sign the Kyoto protocol,
but supports fuel blasting SUVs ?

Would I take 100.000 dollars for providing music for a Hummer Spot?
I don\ufffdt know.
Things have changed since the 80ies where saving the environment was
modern and fashionable :)

As far as I know the taxes on cars and trucks/suvs are the same.
Although you can get a tax deduction if you buy an alternative energy
vehicle (hybrid or full electric.)

And now back on topic, I'm 100% sure Freak came out before the MnM was
released. Warp lists the release date as August 2003 and the Elektron
announcement for the MnM beta program was sent out in Sept. 2003.

Beta program was in June, actually. I received my Monomachine in early
July of 2003.

do you mean private beta testing? because the first 100 Elektron friend
units
were certainly not released until September (I received mine on the
22nd; I only
remember because I saw Built to Spill that night and it was of the two
best
shows I saw all year (the other being Sonic Youth) :-).

either way, it would be tough for LFO to get a beta unit, write the
song (while
fighting OS crashes), record it, mix it and master it in time to have
it out by
august, right?

Joe

I was curious and checked the hummer site. You can watch all their
new commercials. One band, I don't know the name but they seemed to
have scandinavian names, sounded like they were using the vo synth.
It was all vowel sounds. It's the Jungle commercial. The band is
Trabant and the song is Enter Space Bar. It could have been a
circut bent Speak and Spell.

Try hummer.com>hummer world>tv commercials (bottom)

Yeah, and I think that ten pre-beta Monos were shipped as early as
April or May. But the bugs made the Mono practically unusable in the
beginning. Not so now... :)
