I expected a lot of reactions by now but it seems only Ravi has recieved his MM. Doesn't anyone else recieve his? (or her's ;-) Or is it to complex to make something of it in short notice without presets and manual? Ronald.

I would have a reaction for you if I had my MM. My landlord decided to take the day off, so when UPS tried to deliver, no one was there to take the package! I want to kill them!!!! I had high hopes of going home for lunch and having a new toy to play with. Stacey

Another MM has arrived intact in Seattle. 1st impressions: this joystick is really great - no dead zone. The main out labels are reversed on the back, like on MD beta. The bottom 5 keys are kind of "sticking". we'll see if they loosen up with play. They're serious when they say no presets, no full manual. When you start it up, you've got GND>SIN up, and you're on your own! Elektron friends from the MD beta know what they've signed up for... that $discount is earned. Picky people best wait. Well, gotta go! Woohoo! -AD

Rockin. ;-] I dump all the factory patches on the synths that I can shortly after purchase anyway. My order got lost in the muck, I was told, but has gone out finally. I'll be with Monomachine on Wednesday. I just got mine, very nice interface (both physical + software), lots of options. The bad? One of the star-drive screws was missing near the joystick, and several of the vertical column of buttons to the right of the screen are sticking, as well as some of the sequencer buttons. Anyone figure out how to fix this button problem? (I assume they are the same buttons found on the MD) --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, Damon Menne <damon@m...> wrote: > Rockin. ;-] I dump all the factory patches on the synths that I can > shortly after purchase anyway. > > My order got lost in the muck, I was told, but has gone out finally. > I'll be with Monomachine on Wednesday. > > On Monday, September 22, 2003, at 10:50 AM, Andr00 wrote: > > > Another MM has arrived intact in Seattle. > > > > 1st impressions: this joystick is really great - no dead zone. I just got my monomachine running thanks to Flo's help! I put up a picture of the Machinedrum and Monomachine side by side: http://socialentropy.com/studio/mono_machine_drum.JPG I did have a couple of keyboard keys that stuck, but that was because of a loose ribbon cable (fixed). The lowest notes on the keyboard are a bit stiff on mine, but it's caused by the felt that is glued to the underside of the metal face, when the faceplate is off the keys move freely. As for the sounds and interface, they are awesome so far. I tried out the arpeggiator (I don't usually like arpeggiators) but this one is pretty cool, allowing triggers for the amp, filter or LFO to be set independently from the notes (you have to try it to understand). The sound is good, although the formant machine seems very quiet on mine (hopefully will be taken care of in a future update). The sequencer is great and the new layout of the buttons is more friendly than on machine drum (the global button for example, or the up and down buttons to get to the different edit pages). I will try and get some sounds up when I get something worthwhile. cheers JK --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "kristiankeane" <kristiankeane@y...> wrote: > > I just got mine, very nice interface (both physical + software), > lots of options. I can't fit mine side-by-side on my desk here (damn, the MM is long!); but I've got some similar Elektron-craziness going on... > I did have a couple of keyboard keys that stuck, but that was because > of a loose ribbon cable (fixed). I reloaded the OS via MIDI and that got it running. Yeah, it is big! Definitely not very lap-friendly like machinedrum. So far I have been mainly using the superwave machine, but I will try and get into the formant tonight... I still can't figure out how to trigger the arp from the sequencer, if it's even possible, or to record the arp to a sequencer track. cheers JK --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, Joe <jmelnyk@c...> wrote: > On Mon, Sep 22, 2003 at 07:17:19PM -0000, ripe101 wrote: > > I just got my monomachine running thanks to Flo's help! > > excellent! No help here from me, I would like to know the same thing. So, this far. An evening with Monomachine. Quite a few lock-ups+reboots, just a locked tone from the synth. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Beta. :) Got the vocal synth up and running. Changed the settings for the AHDR envelope to something useful, max volume and max track level. Still just faint sound somewhere in the background. Save the pattern and the kit. Reboot. Now! The vocal sound was back with normal volume. I recognize the feeling from using the MD from the beginning. Never knowing if what you want to do is going to mess upp something, so you save your kit quite often to fell more safe. The sequencer works quite like I expected! Realtime recording from the keyboard, plus step editing and parameter locks. Back to the SFX-6! /Janne

Don't recall what it was. But I had quite a few "beeeeeeeeeep"s so far. Mainly because when they say that a 127 for the Release is hold, they MEAN it! > Got the vocal synth up and running. That's not possible yet. That's on the todo list. We will add chord editing in the internal sequencer like in the MIDI sequencer, and that will trig the arpeggiator. Daniel

No, the chords will be only for trigging the arpeggiator. After all, it's the Monomachine. Daniel

I'm using the MD for chords stuff, and get irritated over the fact that they eat three or more sounds. Doing that on the MM... well. Three or less parts over for other sounds? Arpeggios are nice, but not a substitute. /Janne

The ensemble will make chords, but probably not be programmed using the chords-interface. That would mean some problems. For example, if you want to play both an ensemble chord and the arpeggiator - what would happen. So as far as we know now the chord in the internal sequencer will be for the internal arpeggiator only. Daniel

I'm still a bit confused by it. but it seems like some of the machines have 2 sub-oscillators. so I think they mean that you can possibly have 24 oscillators going? Daniel? Joe

Hey everyone! Well, I recorded some stuff pretty quickly using my new toy. It's nothing fantastic, just me exploring this thing. There's not much done in the way of arrangement, so the parts can get annoying after a bit. anyway, enough excuses! here they are: http://www.cs.kent.edu/~jmelnyk/songs/mm000001.mp3 (drums from MD) http://www.cs.kent.edu/~jmelnyk/songs/mm000010.mp3 (all MM) Enjoy! Isn't it logical to play chords on sound with Arp off and play chords to Arp when it's switched on? Just thinking loud :-) Ronald.
