Hi everyone!

The launch of the new SidStation website is now very close... Only the
online ordering thing hopefully need just a few more days. If you want to
have a sneak preview of what it will look like, point your browser to:

It's very heavily pixelled, so if you encounter any display problems I'd
be grateful to know what the problem is and what browser/version you're
using! 

It would also be cool to hear what you think about it!

it's hard to read the white letters on the gray/white graph paper
background.  (using Navigator 4.7)

the sidsupport page looks really good.  (esp. b/c of dark gray text!)

the Ninja looks cool, too.

Looks terrific Daniel!  I tried it with Netscape 4.08 (Win95) and Netscape
4.61 (Linux).  The layout looks great (nice combination of hitech and
lotech) and I concur with Andrew: three cheers on the use of PHP!

I cannot wait to try out the Ninja patches (in SYX format) on the "support"
page.  Is this the much heralded "bleep and bloop" set mentioned a few
months back?  Unfortunately my studio is packed up at the moment (moving to
a new location next week) so I can't try 'em out.  :-(

Well, I guess you could tell that system isn't really in use yet. But
we've been quite close actually! One unit was shipped to Svalbard - far up
in the arctic area to a research worker. It was at this time last year. He
mentioned that the murcury was up to a whooping 0 degrees, and that the
walruses were in a good mood and would love some SID-music.

About the use of PHP - glad you like it! :) This is my first project using
it. It is very nice, but I miss some nifty features from my adventures
with Perl a couple of years ago. On the other hand - it's really fast -
and I guess that's the most important point. A cool thing is the bitmaps
with the pixelled font you find somewhere such as the sidsound-page are
dynamicly generated using the graphics functions of php!

OK - I'm off working at finnishing the ordering page...

Too hard to read the white text on the (almost) white grid. Otherwise
(Rhaa) lovely!

excellent!!!
btw -- you can hide all of your filenames leaving just sidstation.com on the
address bar by using a dummy frameset file. THe first file (index.html) is a
framset (rows ="*,1"), you load the site into the * window then a blank file
(credits whatever) in the 1 pixel frame. This way it masks all the file
paths .. (i like this)

i like the look & feel & functionality all round .. greAT! .. great work

Hey Daniel,

I LOVE it!!!!! Very nice! Could it be the MP3 files are not online yet?
One comment: the font size is rather small on 1024*768 (17"). Luckily,
the zoom feature of Netscape 4.7 seems to work on your site (which fixes
the problem).

Are there really text that render what on the gray/white grid? There was
another report on this, but I took it as a misprint - and that it was the
black text that was hard to read on the gray/white grid. I made it a bit
lighter now (the grid that is in questions and answers and sid support)
with less contrast so it should be easier on the eye. But if there really
is a browser that render it white it's gotta be 100% unreadable now! :)

Hello! 

	I'm the guy with the static-zapped SIDStation who you've been
helping generously by sending me the PAL file.  Well I want to let you know
that I made myself two new PAL's, and also replaced the 5V regulator. 
Unfortunately, even though the voltage is back to normal, the poor thing
still doesn't run!  In fact, it's just like before.

	So I checked the flash data out a little bit.  Even though the reset
vector of the 68hc11 is 0xfffe, I saw 0xffff there.  But I noticed an 0x8000
at address 0x7ff0, along with a number of other vectors at the top of
0x7f00.  So I'm guessing that part of the flash is ok, and you have the
flash mapped to the upper 32K of memory?  Does that all sound correct?

	Another alarm is that there are a large number of blank regions (all
0xff) in my flash chip.  I wanted to ask if perhaps I was missing a large
chunk of memory.  I've listed the blank regions below:

0x02624-0x03800   all 0xff
0x07153-0x07fe0   all 0xff
0x08000-0x1ffff   all 0xff

	Perhaps you could send me a binary image of the flash chip, and I
could compare it, and re-burn it if necessary?  BTW, how much do you charge
to fix these things?
