one more thing

one more thing

2003-01-07 by Jasper de Jong

Hi!

One more thing... I'm thinking of getting Sounddiver to be able to control
all my devices. Is there an adaption for the MD? Some other bankmanage
program?

Thanks,

Jasper

I'd recommend against getting SoundDiver at this point in time. E-
Magic hasn't bothered releasing an update in well over a year and
although the software is definitely very useful it's badly in need of
some bug fixes. I believe they're planning to totally drop the
product in the coming months (due to the Apple merger), so your money
may be spent on a product for which you can receive no support.

I'd love to find another PC-based program that can control my
various synths... I use SoundDiver for my Fizmo and my E6400 Ultra.
Works very well for those two. Given the MD's sysex support, I would
suspect that writing a SoundDiver control for it wouldn't be
especially difficult. However, as I said above, I don't think that
SoundDiver is a great platform to use.

On my page you can find an environment for logic, it shows and
controls all the parameters from the MD . Just like sounddiver I
think. But I found it verry useless!! It'z up to you tweaking knobs
on a MD or Mousing in Logic ?? MMM ( by the way for best timing use
an atari whit an amt 8 world's best clock!!!)

Yes, I have created an adaptation for the MD in SoundDiver. Because
of the limitations of SoundDiver's Generic Adaptation module, though,
it doesn't do much more than allow you to save out individual kits /
patterns / songs instead of having to do a batch-dump.

Also, you still have to go into the Global page to receive MIDI data
back to the unit...

I'd like to program a tighter module for SoundDiver to overcome some
of the limitations, but Emagic is not releasing the SoundDiver SDK - I
asked for it almost 7 months ago now, and still have had no luck in
getting a copy.

None that I know of that actually handle the MD datatypes. However,
this may change in the future :)

Would you mind uploading it to this group's files area? I'm sure
several people here would appreciate it!

Sure, no problem. Just need to draw up a quick readme and insert a
goon PNG for an icon first. I'll try to upload it tonight if I get
the time.
