Oh no ! Memory Full (MD) Daniel you can save me !

Oh no ! Memory Full (MD) Daniel you can save me !

2005-05-31 by onosendai

Hello Daniel, hello all

I'm sorry to tell that (again) but i'm in trouble ! The kit memory of my MD
is 100% full and i can't save new one.
It's sad sad sad sad because i can't stop using it (it's like breath you
know...)

Tell me that you can add more memory kit pleaseeeeeeeeeeee Daniel ! I can't
imagine that you have fill the memory yet, it's not possible !

BUT, if life is a bitch and you can't add more (noooooo) please give me just
one function in the next OS :

the famous.... "WHICH PATTEN USE THAT KIT" function (kaboummmmmm)

Imagine, you are in the kit list and you want to free some, just highlight a
kit en press function > Voil\ufffd ! A little window appear with the name of ALL
the kit witch use that kit, like that we could listen some of them and erase
the kit if this pattern are bad

No i wait for your answer, the eyes wet

why don't you back up your MD memory via Sysex? that's what the
rest of the world does when their synth/sampler/drum machine
memory is full; and that's why Elektron put the ability to do so in
the MD :-)

and regarding your question: you can see whether or not a kit is used.
ever since OS 1.12 (IIRC), a little star would appear beside a kit if
no pattern was using it. it doesn't tell you *which* pattern uses it
(because it could be all of them, after all) but it tells you whether or
not you'll screw up a pattern by deleting it, basically.

hope that helps!

Well, no memory will be added, that's for sure. The mentioned feature
won't likely be implemented either, but there is a simple solution.
Like mentioned in the previous reply you only need to delete all the
patterns you don't like and then scroll through the kit list. All the
kits wich are not used by patterns anymore are marked with a star and
can be deleted without messing up a pattern. It's a bit the other way
around as you would like it but the result is still the same.

I know, but today i haven't any free kit or kit that don't use a pattern.

And don't say that i have to buy another MD ! :)

DOH !

Why ? It take to much memory to implement ?

Yes ! I think it's the best way to do this, thanks for that

Can we imagine hardware memory upgrade for MD ? / Next product

2005-06-02 by onosendai@free.fr

Now Elektron can switch an MD to a UW by a "simple" upgrade.
Can we imagine hardware memory upgrade (new memory chip ) in the futur ?

By the way, i like product that you can custom. Like the WaveIdea Bitstream pro
with is expansion board or the G2 with the same. It will be nice to have this
kind of thing in the next elektron gear. Not to be like the other, but to have
the opportunity to go far away that the original product

sorry, I tried.

then you've prolly got bigger problems anyway.

well you're not getting more memory, I'll tell you that much. it'd prolly
cost 1/2 as much as the MD itself and a complete reworking of the OS.
