I put together some questions in the files section. I didn't write the answers because I'm not sure if they are good questions! Also some of the answers I'm not so sure about. Many questions were from the ms2000 group and I just changed the ms to MD. If you think there should be changes or additions then do it.

I'll add these questions to that list and then post it so that people can comment on the questions and answers. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I've uploaded this, including answers to most of the FAQ's you proposed. there's a couple I left out or felt were answered elsewhere. and one or two more that I need to add. anyway, everyone should feel free to comment on whether they think more questions should be answered or whether these answers are good, etc. there will be a similar list for the Monomachine up soon.

yup; that's me. There are WAY too many features in MD Machine Lab to list in the FAQ... besides, I want to surprise you guys ;) I'll have a site where you'll be able to download MD Machine Lab once I release it, so you can add that URL to the FAQ once it's up. I'm going to try to release the program before 2005 (but no promises). btw, I found an extremely minor typo in the FAQ: In answer 3, the text "...assuming you already have on of those..." should read "one", not "on" ;) Andrew --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, Joseph Melnyk <jmelnyk@c...> wrote:

Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. After about a year of lusting, I just took delivery of a MM SFX-60! Needless to say, I did not get much sleep last night. What a truly inspirational machine this is! Here's my first question.. I'm sending beat clock from Pro Tools to sync the MM up. Which is working fine. However, when I press Stop in Pro Tools, MM stops but a few seconds later it switches back to internal clock and begins playing the current pattern again. I have to then press stop on MM. Why is it doing this? thanxs! -Mark

It might be useful to distinguish Andrew by email address, to identify him among the other Andrews in the elektron community, and in case someone wants to contact him. Same goes for any person mentioned in group documentation (Joe). This is a good start, we've needed a FAQ for ages. -Andrew On Sat, 04 Dec 2004 17:37:50 -0000, sidstationownsyou <sidstationownsyou@...> wrote:

The MD does exactly the same. I thought the problem had already been solved...(I rarely use MD as a slave connected to software,; that's why I just recently found out the problem still exists today). I'm using os 2.0 by the way. Teun

Thank you to everyone for getting the FAQs together. I've been hard at work on the new site, and am aiming at a Jan 1 release date. The new site features discussion forums, uploads/downloads, news, FAQs, and other interesting items. /Scott

Is anyone having problems with grid record? I've programmed some BeatBox stuff, and every few (unpredictable) times through the pattern, the MnM plays the wrong notes. This only happens with patterns created under 1.05. The patterns I made using 1.04 do not exhibit this behavior. Ideas? Last I checked, I wasn't smoking crack ;) /Scott Mark Camp wrote:

With the help of a MD user, We have solved this problem. In Global Settings/Control/Control In, the transport was set to 'Ignore'. Setting the transport to 'Accept' has solved the problem yay! -M

Only problem is: can I still get OS 4.0?

Wow! You guys have done a marvellous job putting the FAQ together. I'm starting to believe that this new forum thing will be good, since people are willing to put some effort to it. I think we have to change question 19: "19) Why do I hear noise coming out of the Machinedrum outputs? - This could occur for various reasons. The most likely one is that you have the Machinedrum output set very high and running into something not setup to accept it's +4dB output level (see question number 17). It may work to simply turn the level down through the main output control or through a mixer if you're using the individual outputs. If you're still having problems, you may wish to contact Elektron support regarding the noise level of your particular Machinedrum. That said, many people have complained that perfectly functional Machinedrums still have a small noise level at their main output. The reason for this is unknown at this time." I think this last chapter is out of place. If MD would suffer from this kind of problem, it would have been noticed in Elektron first. This last chapter points that MDs has some techical failures. If people have problems with it, it's due the wrong gain-staging or/and some other electrical problems in their house. MD is really quiet, and I haven't had any problems even with severe limiting the signal (the noise floor doesn't jump out). Toni.

I never even thought of that. :-) so you're suggesting that we dump this last paragraph, then? that's fine by me. I mainly included it because a lot of people get all up in arms when we have the MD noise discussion, stating that they still have noise in their MD and always have even though they use pro gear, etc. so I didn't want to dismiss that it seems like there is an unsolved problem here. but it may be unfair to fault the MD, I'm not sure. Try reloading OS 1.05. That (seems to) have fixed the problem for me. I won't know until I do more testing. /Scott teundereeper wrote:

I guess there should be some kind step by step guide to fixing it. But then again some people put it directly into a sound card and I have no idea how that might work. Having it go into a mixer is quite easy. --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, Joseph Melnyk <jmelnyk@c...> wrote:
