in os1.19c, there are two settings you need to enable:

global -> [slot] -> sync -> tempo out (bpm)
global -> [slot] -> sync -> ctrl out (start/stop/continue)


tempo out shouldn't start and stop your sequencer, unless you have it set to start as
soon as it detects a master clock, independently of start/stop/continue messages.
digital performer has this option, but i keep it disabled for the reasons you've
described.

are you using a sequencer to multiplex your midi beat clock?  if so, which one?  does
it have an option like the one i described?
