Monomachine Design wishes (aka MD design flaws)

2003-08-27 by steril707

A few things i hope Elektron will think about when developing the
Monomachine Design, because some parts of the MD Design really suck..
I hope they dont repeat those.

* The Adapter should be "standard".. Its difficult to get a
replacement one, when you are on tour in another country. Makes it
unreliable to have it with you on Tour.

* The Adapter should be secured on the chassis. its too easily
happening that the cable pulls out of the MD.

* a proper built in powersupply would be the best off course. The MD
is too heavy? Well, i would gladly swap that for using a lighter
material instead of that heavy metal chassis.

* the knobs design should be more "steady"..after having 5(!) knobs
already breaking away (i am having "superfast glue" with me in my
tourcase now for the emergency), i dont think this "push in and dial
faster" potis that stand out above the chassis are too professional
anymore. I would prefer normal potis that last, while being in my
tourcase, i dont need that gimicky fast-dial.

* A Safe Storage Media adapter should be included. Even my shoddy
electribe s has a Smartmedia Adapter for storing sequences and data.
Not everybody has a laptop with him for doing sysex, when being on
tour, and suddenly things are getting crazy within the md(patterns
changed, sounds vanished etc. i guess you know what i mean).

* i heard that the internal wiring in the md is
quite "questionable"..in terms of reliability i hope the Monomachine
Design avoids that.

I think Elektron asks for prices that would imply such a quality
standard. And when you are stating "Perfection comes at a price" even
more.
I like the MD, nothing beats it at playing live and getting crazy
with it, but quality wise it is giving me a headache since i own it
(for two years now).
I will watch out for a while before buying the Monomachine.
