I find it intuitive to touch knobs lightly for fine adjustments and to apply pressure for more severe ones. When I imagine it the other way, it seems like it would be hard to make a fine adjustment (such as of SRR or low values of RTIME, where adjacent settings make totally different noises) without "jostling" it out of position as you let go.
